Produce transport containers are a fresh innovation from
Rentacrate
Rentacrate, Inc - with offices in Waltham, MA. Hackensack, NJ.
Beltsville, MD and most recently, Schiller Park. IL - has launched
a new division that marks the company's first foray into the food
service industry by producing its first specialized product for
that market.
The company's new Produce and Perishable Cargo Division is now
making available a specialized plastic crate designed for the safe
and fresh shipping of produce. Unlike other Rentacrate products,
which are typically rented on a per-project basis, the new Produce
and Perishable Cargo Containers are also available for long-term
lease, making them an attractive and very affordable option to traditional
boxes for any food supplier, distributor or transport company.
Like all of Rentacrate's products, the new Produce and Perishable
Cargo Containers are made of sturdy plastic and offer a stackability
and improved move and transportation management that traditional
cardboard boxes cannot match.
The use of cardboard for transporting food products has always
been less than conducive for the task, with a short life span and
a tendency to crush when it comes into contact with moisture - an
unavoidable condition when packed with water- saturated produce.
Too many cardboard boxes never reach their destination intact and
have the added drawback of fostering ideal conditions for mold growth
and burrowing bugs. Waxed boxes can be used to stop moisture leakage,
but these boxes can only be used once. Plastic crates which are
long- lasting and reusable have no such drawback and keep produce
cooler longer thereby increasing shelf life.
As an added benefit, Rentacrate also provides management services
for its Produce and Perishable Cargo Containers, tracking and keeping
an inventory of the specialty crates for customers.
The idea for our new Produce and Perishable Cargo Containers was
born out of the simple fact that the cardboard box is simply not
an ideal way to transport fresh cut produce in the first place."
said Michael Shanley founder and president of Rentacrate. "With
our warehouse strength plastic Produce and Perishable Cargo Containers
every shipment launched out will arrive at its destination in exactly
the same condition, with no danger of the deterioration prevalent
with cardboard boxes, much reducing the amount of produce that arrives
damaged."
"We have had really good success with the fleet of crates
that Rentacrate provides us with and all our stores just love to
see our products arrive in them." said Jack Stobel of Carolina
Fresh Cuts, one of the first companies to use the new Produce &
Perishable Cargo Containers. "We always know exactly how much
product we can put in our plastic crates and because they are perfectly
uniform in size, we can easily figure out the exact number of crates
we can ship out at any given time. We also don't have to worry about
any spoilage of our freshly cut produce during shipment because
we know that the product in the crates will arrive at our stores
in the same condition when they left our plant." |
